Ankoo's family is very involved in the mardi gras organizations in Mobile. His uncle, who invited us to the ball, and cousin are both members of the Incas. His uncle and aunt have a tradition of inviting their neices and nephews to the ball when they turn 21, which is how Ankoo and I got invited last year, and they were sooo sweet to invite us back again!!! His other uncle is a member of Mistocs of Time (MOT), and his wife, Marian, is a member of another organization. When she was younger she was lucky enough to be crowned Queen of ALL of Mardi Gras, just like her mother had Been before her!
The legacies is pretty amazing, which is why Im nervous about tonight! We just found out yesterday that I'm going to be in "lead outs" which is where 400 pol show up to see the members of the organization and their escorts be announced and come in to the ball! Ankoo's cousin Merlin needed an escort because his wife isn't able to make it down for the ball, so they asked me to be his escort!!! Wow!! I'm really nervous, but I hope it all goes smoothly. I'll be sure to take lots of photos!
